Player Engagement

Long-Term Programming Pathway

A joint initiative founded in 2013 by the Masters TournamentUnited States Golf Association and The PGA of America, Drive, Chip and Putt is a free nationwide junior golf development competition aimed at growing the game by focusing on the three fundamental skills employed in golf.

By tapping the creative and competitive spirit of girls and boys ages 7-15, Drive, Chip and Putt provides aspiring junior golfers an opportunity to play with their peers in qualifiers around the country. Participants who advance through local, sub-regional and regional qualifying in each age/gender category earn a place in the National Finals, which is conducted at Augusta National Golf Club the Sunday before the Masters Tournament and is broadcast live by Golf Channel.

PGA Camps programs are designed for junior golfers of all ability levels, from the “new junior golfer” and intermediate level junior to advanced players. Participants are segmented into smaller groups based on their experience and skill level in order to create the most favorable learning environment possible.

What started as an idea scribbled on a napkin has grown to over 60,000 kids playing on teams nationwide. While the program has evolved to include expanded age divisions, year-round play and an enhanced All-Star experience for competitive players, the commitment to our values of Safety, Care and Organization remains steadfast.

PGA Jr. League is the flagship youth pillar program of the PGA of America’s 501 (c)(3) foundation, PGA REACH. We envision a world in which PGA Jr. League is accessible to every child, everywhere, regardless of background or circumstance. We believe that golf is for the collective, and everyone deserves to feel a deep sense of belonging to healthy and caring communities.

The NHSGA started because the team at Nextgengolf could not find a good, consistent and reliable resource nationally for high school golf. Our organization wanted to help high school golfers, their coaches, and families, but there was no centralized organization to help. Initially, our goal was to communicate with high school golfers about the opportunity to play club golf in college, but after understanding the high school golf market in more detail, our team realized there is a lot of work to be done to give high school golf the proper time and attention it deserves. It’s time for high school golfers to be united nationally as one!

Nextgengolf was founded by Kris Hart in 2010. The company originated as a Boston-based affordable golf membership program for recreational college students called CollegeGolfPass, which helped make golf more affordable for college students. The company expanded nationwide after merging with The National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) in 2013. In the first year of the merger, the company started 100+ new club golf programs and supported over 10,000 student golfers. Prior to Nextgengolf taking over the NCCGA, our COO Matt Weinberger built the NCCGA into a true National organization while he was a college student in 2012 and 2013.

Over the next two years college golfers kept coming to us saying “thanks for all the help in college”, but kept asking “what do I do now” after graduating college. CollegeGolfPass and NCCGA rebranded as Nextgengolf in January 2014, knowing we could help graduating college golfers. As a result, in 2014 we developed the Nextgengolf City Tour which provides team-based golfing opportunities for young adults in their 20’s and 30’s near major cities.

Between the NCCGA and City Tour, Nextgengolf is the leading entity for golfers in their 20’s and 30’s in the US. At the core of our organization we run great golf tournaments and are in the golf experience business. Beyond running great events, we work hard to provide meaningful content and information to young adults and the golf industry at large. Our organization does not focus on the best golfers, rather we support “the rest” and care about the future sustainability of golf.

PGA Family Cup launched in 2022 as a way to bring family members of all ages and skill levels together to create lasting memories through the game of golf.
Previously a limited pilot program, nearly 50 PGA Professionals hosted more than 500 family teams last year. Now, all PGA and LPGA Professionals, Associates and PGA Golf Management University Program Students are eligible to host events as “PGA Family Cup Coaches.”
The innovative and welcoming format involves teams of two family members or more (with at least one junior, age 17 or under) playing in a par-3, 9-hole scramble. PGA Family Cup Coaches can customize their event format in creative ways to meet the needs of their participating teams. In 2021, PGA Family Cup Coaches found tremendous success with themed events, such as celebrating the beginning or end of their PGA Jr. League season or including costume contests where teams dressed up and decorated their golf carts.
