Kyle Szyhowshi Interview | Super Senior Playoff Highlight Video

Kyle Szyhowski (Old Warson Country Club) shot a 64 (-7) at the Gateway PGA Stroke play event at Algonquin Golf Club on Monday, August 8, 2022 to take home the overall title. Nash Haxel (The Quarry at Crystal Springs) won the senior division with a score of 69 (-2) while Brad Hulett won the super senior division on the fourth hole of a playoff.

Szyhowski started the shotgun event on hole 10 and birdied 12, 16, and 18 on the first nine holes. After making the turn he parred the first two holes before making a birdie on three. His best hole of the day came on four where he eagled the 521-yard par five to move to -6. Szyhowski continued to cruise as he finished the last five holes -1 on the way to the crown.

Rounding out the top finishers in the overall division were Jacob Seabaugh (Arena Golf & Range), Matt Swanson (Forest Hills Country Club), and Sam Lee (Spencer T Olin Community Golf Club) at 68 (-3).

Haxel started the day on the fourth hole and birdied to move to -1 before taking his game up to the next level. Sandwich par on 11 with birdies on 10 and 12 and eagled 18 to -2 where he would finish.

After 18-holes of play Mark Faulkner (Lake of Egypt Country Club), Brad Hulett, Steve Heckel, and Garth Bayer were tied at 72 (+1). After the first playoff hole only Hulett and Heckel remained. On playoff hole four, both men found the fairway. Hulett’s second shot came just short of the green while Heckel’s ended up on the cart path which by course rules was out-of-bounds. Heckel decided to pick up his ball which gave Hulett the win.
