Rob Sedorcek (Family Golf and Learning Center) pulled off an exciting season long Match Play title on Tuesday, September 20 at Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville, Illinois. After making a four point comeback to tie the match on the last six holes of the semifinals on Tuesday morning, Sedorcek won the match on the fourth playoff hole to move to the championship match after lunch.
The trophy round showcased Sedorcek and Kevin Triefenbach (Tapawingo National Golf Club). Through the first four holes the score was tied as both players won a hole. Sedorcek took the advantage on holes five and seven to go up a pair. Triefenbach won the eighth but dropped the ninth as the two made the turn with Sedorcek up by a pair.
Sedorcek added two to his lead on the first three holes to start the back portion of play. Triefenbach, down four, knew he had ground to make and turned up the pressure. He won holes 13 and 14 to make it a two hole match. The pair tied 15 and 16 as Triefenbach needed to win the last two holes to force a playoff. He won the 17th hole and turned up the heat. The comeback came up just short as Sedorcek was able to force a tie on the hole to take home the season long match play title.
