Gateway PGA Member Rob Sedorcek played in the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores, Benton Harbor, Michigan during the week of May 22nd, playing with the likes of Miguel Angel Jimenez, Vijay Singh, Tom Kite and several other stars.

“It was a very unique experience. Playing with people I grew up competing against, seeing friends from the past, but determined to make a better show than last time. I got to play with some fun people like Esteban Toledo, Santiago Luna, Frank Esposito, Dan Forsman and Tommy Tolles and had breakfast with Vijay Singh, spoke with Miguel Angel Jimenez, Peter Jacobsen, Tom Kite, Tom Pernice, Scott Verplank, Bob Tway and several others. Best moment was seeing my name on the scrolling leaderboard,” Sedorcek said.

The 2018 Championship was Rob’s second trip to Harbor Shores for the Senior PGA Championship. In his two rounds in Michigan this year, he scored a 2-under 69 on the first day and a 6-over 77 in his final day.

“I was excited. This being my second but also going to a golf course that I have played before I really felt I had a good chance at improving on my play from the first experience. I learned from the prior experience on what I wanted to do different and going to try to prepare differently,” he said.

In 2016, Rob shot a 5-over 76 in his first round and an 8-over 79 in his second round. His 146 in this year’s tournament is a 9-stroke improvement from his two rounds on the same course in 2016.

He qualified for this year’s KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship after finishing tied for 4th place in the Gateway Section Senior PGA Professional Championship at Glen Echo. He then won the playoff and went to Desert Mountain in Phoenix where he finished 27th.

“This being the second time in three years I really was just trying not to make a big mistake to not lose any positions. Somewhat stressful but enjoying the moment,” he said.”

The Gateway PGA is incredibly proud of Rob for playing in his second KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship in three years and for improving his score by such a large margin!
