ST. LOUIS, MO (MAY 31, 2018) – Gideon Smith of Quincy Country Club won the final Dick Lotz Tower Tee Invitational in style with a four-hole playoff win that book-ended a day that began with a hole-in-one on the fourth hole.

Smith and Shane Blankenship, Old Kinderhook Golf Club, finished 18 holes tied at 6-under 48, forcing a playoff to decide the round. Smith and Blankenship entered the final hole of the playoff neck-and-neck but Smith edged out Blankenship by a stroke to clinch the win.

“The hole-in-one was probably more fun than the playoff win,” Smith said. “It’s great to be here at the Tower Tee Invitational, I had a great pairing, guys that I grew up playing with.”

The hole-in-one came when Smith hit a lob-wedge shot that hit the flag and backed into the hole.

Bob Gaus finished in third place with a 4-under 50 while Michael Tucker, Brandon Veld and Ty Zimmerman all shot 3-under 51 for fourth place.

We’d like to thank Steve Lotz and Tower Tee for hosting the event and for incredible hospitality throughout the day.
