On Monday, April 13, Morgan Brasser etched her name into Gateway PGA history, becoming the first woman ever to win a Gateway PGA Section event.

Competing in a Stableford-format tournament at Bogey Hills Country Club, Brasser delivered a composed and consistent performance against a field of PGA Professionals from across the region.

Brasser, who works at Old Warson Country Club, totaled 22 Stableford points during the one-round event before defeating Tyler Willette in a dramatic two-hole playoff.

Her round featured six birdies, six pars, five bogeys, and one double bogey, equating to a 1-over-par 72 on the par-71 layout in traditional stroke play. Under the Stableford system, however, Brasser’s aggressive play and birdie production proved critical. She caught fire throughout the round, including a stretch of birdies on holes 5, 6, 7, and 13, helping produce a steady front nine and an even-par performance on the back.

After Brasser and Willette each scrambled for par on the opening playoff hole, the championship moved to a par 3 for the deciding moment. Brasser hit her tee shot hole-high left before pitching to four feet, while Willette’s tee shot came up just short of the green and his chip settled roughly 13 feet away. Brasser calmly converted the par putt to secure the historic victory.

The win represents a significant milestone not only for Brasser personally, but also for the continued growth and visibility of women competing at the highest levels within PGA Section competition. Facing a field made up of Gateway PGA Professionals and experienced competitors, Brasser’s victory showcased both elite play and poise under pressure.
