Mike Suhre used a 5-under 67 at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course to win our Stroke Play #3 event on Monday, June 24th in Alton, Illinois.
Suhre’s round was peppered with five birdies and 10 pars, including an eagle on the ninth hole.
“To be honest with you, I putted it pretty well today,” Suhre said. “I hit it good enough, (lot of fairways, lot of greens), but I made three or four putts outside of 25 feet, which obviously helped.”
Suhre’s slew of clutch putts included a 40 foot make downhill.
“On some of them, you’re just trying to get it close and hopefully you can two-putt and a couple of them went in,” Suhre said. “So, it was unexpected, but welcomed.”
Following Suhre on the leaderboard for second place in the Regular Division was Cory Cowsert with a 3-under 69. Brett Moomey, Jeff Whitfield and Brad Dean tied for third place in that division with a 2-under 70.
David Levine won the Senior Division with a 3-under 69 that included seven birdies. The Super-Senior Division was won by Garth Bayer. Bayer won with a 4-under 68 that was closely followed by Levine and Steve Heckel.
