The journey to the national spotlight begins this week as four standout professionals from the Gateway PGA Section head to Oregon to compete in the PGA Professional Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.

Leading the group is Kyle Szyhowski, PGA of Norwood Hills Country Club, who captured the 2025 Gateway PGA Professional Championship at Panther Creek Country Club in commanding fashion. Szyhowski set the tone early with an opening-round 67 and followed it with a steady 73, securing a wire-to-wire victory and punching his ticket to the national stage.

Joining him is Ryan McClintock, PGA of Panther Creek Country Club, who surged into contention with an impressive final-round 69 to finish at 142. Mike Suhre, PGA of Oak Brook Golf Course matched that total, earning his place through consistent play across both rounds.

The final qualifying spot came down to a dramatic finish. Brett Moomey, PGA of Algonquin Golf Course delivered one of the tournament’s defining moments with a hole-in-one on the 11th hole during Round 1—an achievement that proved crucial. After finishing tied at 143 with Matt Gindler, Moomey prevailed in a playoff, sinking a clutch 13-foot putt to secure his trip to Oregon.

Now, the four Gateway PGA professionals will compete against a 312-player field at the National PGA Professional Championship. With two cuts separating the field, only the top performers will advance, all chasing a coveted spot on the Corebridge Financial PGA Team and an invitation to the PGA Championship.
