At Bogey Hills Country Club, it was a day of standout performances across the Gateway PGA Section, headlined by Morgan Brasser making history and Bob Gaus, PGA delivering a dominant senior sweep.
Brasser became the first woman to win a Gateway PGA Section event, earning 22 Stableford points, before defeating Tyler Willette in a playoff. After both players got up-and-down for par on the first playoff hole, they moved to a par 3 where Brasser hit it hole-high left, pitching to four feet, while Willette’s tee shot came up just short and his chip finished around 13 feet away. Brasser calmly converted another up-and-down for par to secure the historic victory. Her round also featured four birdies on holes 5, 6, 7, and 13, leading to a steady front nine and an even-par back nine.
Gaus matched the moment with a performance of his own, winning both the Senior and Super Senior divisions after a playoff victory over Matt Gindler, PGA. After finding the middle of the fairway off the tee, Gaus stuck his approach to seven feet and converted the birdie putt for the win. Posting 21 Stableford points, his round was highlighted by birdies on holes 2, 4, and 10, finishing with a steady and complete showing on both nines.
