“Introduce yourself and find something out about the new associate or person new to the section.”

Ah the first Section Stroke Play event of the year has come and gone.  Everyone is excited to be there and play.  It usually is the most well attended Stroke Play event of the year before the dreaded Monday Outings begin.  The best part about the first events of the spring is we get to see new faces.  You can always generally spot a new associate right away.  The shiny brand new gear, practicing by themselves and really not sure what to expect for the day ahead.  I have always tried to take it upon myself to introduce myself to a new face at an event.  It doesn’t happen every time but at least I try. Why you ask? You never know when you are going to have them think about applying for that associate position at your Course.  So a best practice for you seasoned veterans may just be a simple introduction to a new face at the next event.  Introduce yourself and find something out about the new associate or person new to the section.  Speaking with fellow professionals it appears that Associates are becoming harder to come by and you may make the difference in a person staying in the golf business.  I know from experience many years ago 1 Professional made that impact on me and it was a difference maker in my Golf Professional career.
