The Gateway golf community came together Thursday, September 17, for the 2026 Charnes Pro-Am, hosted by Nathan Charnes, PGA, Acting President of the PGA of America and General Manager of WingHaven Country Club.
Held at WingHaven Country Club, the event welcomed 24 teams for a day of competition and camaraderie, with a Gateway PGA Professional paired with each team. The tournament also provided an opportunity for players to come together in support of PGA REACH Gateway and its mission to positively impact lives through golf.
PGA REACH was founded in the Gateway Section before growing into a national initiative of the PGA of America. That history continues to be an important part of the Gateway Section as PGA REACH Gateway delivers programs that use golf to create opportunities and make a difference throughout the community.
PGA REACH Gateway programs include PGA HOPE, which introduces Veterans to the game; PGA WORKS, which creates pathways into the golf industry; PGA Jr. League, which helps introduce young players to the sport; and PGA ABLE, which introduces individuals with physical and mental disabilities to the game of golf and creates opportunities for them to learn and enjoy the sport.
The Gateway Section thanks Nathan Charnes and WingHaven Country Club for hosting the 2026 Charnes Pro-Am, along with the 24 participating teams and Gateway PGA Professionals who helped make the event a success and support the continued work of PGA REACH Gateway.
