The Gateway Section hosted the Pro-Pro 9,9,9 Tournament on Monday, April 29 at Forest Hills Country Club. The event featured nine-holes of better ball, Chapman alternate shot and scramble. The Quarry at Crystal Springs duo of Nash Haxel and Jeff Whitfield took home the trophy with an impressive 93 (-9) edging out Mark Faulkner (Lake of Egypt CC) and Michael Tucker (Bellerive CC) by a stroke.
Haxel and Whitfield shot 27 (-3) on the Chapman alternate shot, 32 (-4) in the scramble portion and 34 (-2) during the best ball section. Their best score of the day came on hole 14 during the scramble where they made an eagle on the 447-yard hole.
Tucker and Faulkner recorded 28 (-2) in the alternate shot, 33 (-3) in scramble and 33 (-1) in the best ball format.
The shot of the day went to Jon Prange (The Fall GC) on hole 4 where he aced the 150-yard par three. The hole-in-one is the second of the tournament season after Matt Gindler’s at Franklin County CC a week prior, April 22, at the CK Golf Brands Pro-Pro Scramble.
Thank you to Jimmy Bals and his staff at Forest Hills CC for hosting the event.
