The Players Championship, the final stroke play event of the year, was held on Monday, October 2nd at Quincy Country Club in Quincy, Illinois. The race for Regular Player of the Year was one for the ages. Ryan Roy (Bogey Hills Country Club) entered the Championship in fourth place behind leader Matt Gindler (Greenbriar Hills Country Club) by 52.5 points. Shooting a 66 (-4), Roy beat the field by five strokes and finished on top of the Player of the Year Race with a 2.75 point lead.

In the Assistant Division, Matt Swanson (Forest Hills Country Club) took home the Players Championship title as well as the Assistant Player of the Year honor. JR Rotarius (Sugar Creek Golf Course) won the Senior Division round with a score of 72 (+2) while Rob Sedorcek won the Senior Play of the Year award by 70 points over Steve Hausmann (Tapawingo National Golf Club, Annbriar Golf Course) by 70 points. Rounding out the “of the Year” honors is Bob Gaus (Family Golf & Learning Center) with the Super Senior Play of the Year title. Brian Fogt won the tournament round with a score of 76 (+6).

Through the first eight holes, Roy sat comfortably at three-under, including an eagle on the par-five sixth-home.
