The Gateway PGA Section hosted the 2024 Gateway PGA Professionals Championship at Dalhousie Golf Club on August 5-6. Bob Gaus (Family Golf) was the lone player to shoot under on both days with a 68 (-4) and a 70 (-2) for a two-day total of 138 (-6).

Gideon Smith (Quincy Country Club) finished in second with scores of 69-73=142 (-2), while Ryan McClintock (Panther Creek Country Club) was behind him at 70-73=143 (-1). In a playoff for the last automatic qualifying position, Jeff Whitfield (The Quarry at Crystal Springs) beat out Steve Hausmann (Tapawingo National Golf Course) in a four-hole playoff. The four qualifiers will head to PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, on April 27-30, 2025.

Hausmann receives the first alternate spot for the Gateway Section. In a playoff for the second alternate spot, Matt Gindler (Greenbriar Hills Country Club) outlasted Mike Suhre (Oak Brook Golf Club) over three holes.

Gaus came out hot on the front nine both days, shooting two under on day one and going five under through six to get day two started. His first 18 holes were his most consistent as he hit 34 on both the front and the back to record 68 (-4) and sat in second place behind Hausmann by a stroke.

After writing down a bogey on hole one on the first day, Smith found his groove and shot four-under through the last 17 to finish at 69 (-3). He kept rolling on day two recording one birdie, 15 pars, and two bogeys for a 73 (+1) for a two-day total of 142 (-2).

McClintock was the last participant to shoot under par on the tournament. His best round came on day one, with a score of 70 (-2), which included going three under on the front nine.

Whitfield secured his spot in the playoff with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole after shooting an impressive 70 (-2) on day two, tied for the day’s best score.

Thank you to Billy Marrow, Jack Connell, Nick Kuenneke, and the Dalhousie staff for hosting the Championship.
