The Gateway PGA Section Assistants’ Association hosted a Pro Am at Persimmon Wood Golf Course on Monday, April 3 playing a shamble two best ball format sponsored by David Kohlberg of Callaway Golf.
Flight one saw a tie at 123 (-13) by Bellerive Country Club team consisting of Shulte, Elmer, Nostestine Jr., and Power and Old Hickory Golf Club team of Ed Schwent, Becker, Downing, and Jesse. The Bellerive team won the scorecard playoff to earn the top spot. In flight two the GOLFTEC team consisting of Brad Dean, Knopp, Province and Ramthun etched out a one-stroke win with a score of 126 (-16). In the third flight Kyle Williams, Francis, Jackson, and Phillips of Old Hickory took the crown with a score of 128 (-14).
The Bellerive CC team had two impressive eagles in the event. The first came on the fourth hole from Nostestine Jr. on the 496-yard par five. Elmer recorded a net eagle on the 540-yard par five hole 11. The team combined for par or better on 17 holes in the round.
The Old Hickory CC team saw a pair of net eagles in their round. On hole six, Downing was able to score two under on the 427-yard hole. Five holes later Jesse wrote down an eagle on the 540-yard 11th. The team shot par or better on 16 holes in the round.
In flight two GOLFTEC was consistent throughout the round as they shot par or better on 17 holes. In the round GOLFTEC recorded a pair of birdies on five holes, four of which came on the front nine.
In the final flight Old Hickory’s Williams, Francis, Jackson, and Phillips recorded a pair of net eagles on the 11th hole by Francis and Jackson. On the fourth hole Phillips recorded a net eagle of his own.
