
Mike Suhre, PGA, Owner & Head Professional at Oak Brook Golf Club in Edwardsville, Illinois, and a Gateway PGA Section Member, has been named the 2025 PGA Youth Player Development Award winner. This prestigious award is given to a PGA of America Golf Professional who has made extraordinary contributions and achievements in the area of youth player development.
Suhre and his family own the course that his father and grandfather built, where he continues to work alongside his dad, and is responsible for managing the entire operation. Suhre has led the region and the country in PGA Jr. League participation with a total of 1,100 players over the past seven years. Suhre and Oak Brook provide free golf to over 100 high school students annually, and the facility hosts free golf for kids on approximately 280 days of their 320 open days each year. Suhre has served in numerous leadership and governance positions at the section and national levels including Gateway PGA Section President, PGA REACH Gateway Foundation Vice President & Board Member and National Player Engagement Committee—where he piloted multiple player engagement programs. Suhre has been honored with multiple awards from the Gateway PGA Section, including the President’s Plaque (2012), Youth Player Development Award (2016, 2022), PGA Golf Professional of the Year (2016) and Player Development Award (2021).
