Patrick Dylan Fiore, a resident of Belleville, Illinois, who attended Althoff Catholic High School, sadly passed away on March 18, 2013, at the age of 15. In 2014, the Gateway Section created a Junior Tour Tournament to honor the shining light that Patrick was, called the Patrick Fiore Memorial Tournament. When asked about the young golfer, General Manager and Director of Golf at St. Clair Country Club, Tom Sipula, said, “I met Pat early in 2011 which was my first year at St. Clair. He loved the Club and the game of golf. Pat spent many hours hanging around the shop and practicing on the range and putting green. I believe Pat won his age group in the Gateway event here in 2012. The story I was told was that he hit his ball over the 17th green in trouble and somehow holed the shot which let him win the event. It was his first win and I remember how proud he was of the medal he received. Pat was also a favorite on the St. Clair swim team. He made friends with everyone and was mature beyond his years.” He played and enjoyed many sports outside of golf, such as basketball, baseball, and swimming. He was said to have a kind heart and a great sense of humor. This year’s Patrick Fiore Memorial Tournament will be held on Sunday, May 1st, 2022 at St. Clair Country Club.
