Gateway PGA REACH partners, the Tee-Masters & Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club, bring golf to North St. Louis youth

The Gateway PGA REACH Foundation, through programs like PGA Jr. League and other golf initiatives, work to make the game more affordable and accessible to youth. With the help of Tee Masters/Diversity Golf Marketing Foundation, PGA Professionals and the Boys & Girls Club, the PGA REACH Foundation is able to provide year-round golf instruction, play and lessons. PGA REACH helps provide scholarships to families to offset PGA Jr. League fees while still receiving the same experience as every other participant.

In the Gateway Section, 92 golfers received scholarships for PGA Jr. League in 2019. The program captained by PGA Professional Martin Reeves, in partnership with the Tee Masters Organization, saw all of it’s 30 participants receive the opportunity to compete in PGA Jr. League.

Last summer, Martin and several other PGA Professionals volunteered at the Tee Masters’ annual golf tournament and fundraiser at Norman K. Probstein Golf Course in Forest Park. The event highlights the game of golf and St. Louis youth and all the works their organization does throughout the year to help bring golf to everyone. The day was filled with golf instruction, families learning the game with their children and all Boys & Girls Club PGA Jr. League golfers proudly wore their PGA Jr. League uniforms while showing off their newly learned skills.

This fall, the Gateway PGA REACH Foundation and local Gateway PGA Professionals worked together with Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis to provide access to the game of golf to inner-city youth. With help from volunteers from the Tee Masters Organization, Gateway PGA Professionals led five-week introductory to golf programs throughout six North-St. Louis Boys & Girls Club locations. In total, the Gateway PGA REACH Foundation provided nearly 30 hours of after school golf programming throughout the months of October and November.
