St. Louis and Bellerive Country Club are honored to be hosting the 2013 Senior PGA Championship in May, 2013, and the 100th playing of the PGA Championship in August, 2018. In conjunction with these Championships, a program – PGA REACH - has been created. Through this program the PGA of America, the Gateway PGA Foundation, and the St. Louis golfing community will combine their strengths and resources to effect meaningful change and improve lives in the St. Louis area through the game of golf. Our program will secure, support, and extend the REACH of local organizations that offer focused activities to at-risk and underprivileged youth in the areas of educational support and health and wellness.
PGA REACH looks to measurably improve and advance opportunities for St. Louis area youth to succeed in life. Success will be measured through programs that have demonstrable outcomes to positively impact youth by:
1.Increasing classroom attendance
2.Lowering the high school dropout rate
3.Enabling healthier young men and women through education, activities, and recreational programs
4.Improving the economic opportunities available to these youth
Partner with existing organizations, in the form of funding and/or volunteer support, that have effective programs in place to achieve these Goals
Assist with developing wellness programs with an emphasis on golf, fitness, nutrition, prescription compliance and overall health initiatives
Utilize existing PGA of America programs, Gateway PGA local golf professionals, and other volunteers to help deliver meaningful programs that will impact St. Louis area schools
Funding necessary to support the programs that will help us achieve these goals will come from:
Gateway PGA Foundation sponsored tournaments
Senior PGA Championship and PGA Championship related activities, such as Pro-Am tournaments and pre-events to the Championships
A portion of the proceeds from Bellerive Country Club’s hosting the Championships
Corporations and Individuals in the St. Louis area
Matching grants from the PGA of America
With your help and support, we will utilize the opportunities afforded us through the hosting
of these two Major Golf Championships to make a difference in St. Louis.
